Mulled Wine Sangria

Nothing screams winter more than mulled wine enjoyed alongside some roasted chestnuts.

If you are wanting to give this festive drink a twist this winter, turn the typical mulled wine into a fruity sangria.

Recipe for Mulled Wine Sangria

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of red wine
  • 474ml of cranberry juice
  • 234ml of fresh cranberries
  • 234ml of Cointreau
  • 60g of brown sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 orange peel strip
  • 2 apples preferably green

Preparation Method

  1. In a large saucepan, pour in the wine, and cranberry juice before adding the cranberries, Cointreau, cinnamon sticks, brown sugar and orange peel.
  2. Place the saucepan onto the hob and on a medium heat, leave it to simmer while stirring all the time.
  3. Stir for 5 minutes or until the sugar dissolves.
  4. Once the sugar has dissolved into the mixture, remove the saucepan from the heat and leave to cool on the side for roughly 15 minutes.
  5. With the two apples, cut them into small squares and stir into the mulled wine mixture.
  7. You can now pour the mixture into glasses ready to serve, or place into the fridge to chill before serving cold.
