Apple and Cinnamon Swirls

Recipe for Apple and Cinnamon Swirls

Ingredients

  • 320g rectangle sheet of homemade/ready-made puff pastry
  • 2 medium-sized apples; peeled, cored and finely chopped
  • 50g soft brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 25g melted butter
  • Optional: Icing sugar for dusting

Preparation Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan) or Gas Mark 6. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Peel, core and finely chop 2 medium-sized apples. In a bowl, mix the apples with 50g of soft brown sugar, 1 tsp of ground cinnamon and 25g of melted butter.
  3. Roll a sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, approximately 35cm x 25cm.
  4. Evenly spread the apple mixture over the pastry, leaving a 1cm border around the edges.
  5. Starting from one of the long edges, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Slice the log into 12 even pieces.
  6. Place the swirls cut side up on the prepared baking tray. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Drizzle or dust warm swirls with icing/icing sugar. Serve and enjoy!
